Equality
Equality
It is the duty of the Head Teacher and Governing Body to promote equal opportunities and good relationships. We aim to ensure that all pupils have access to the National Curriculum regardless of race, academic ability or gender. A variety of strategies are used to ensure that leaning opportunities are matched to the needs of individual pupils. This includes the matching of teaching styles and learning opportunities to children’s interests and abilities, the use of differentiated tasks and the appropriate use of support staff. A copy of our Equal Opportunities policy is available on request.
LGBT+
We are proud to be working towards our Rainbow Flag Award this year.
What is the Rainbow Flag Award?
The Rainbow Flag Award is a national quality assurance framework for all schools and youth organisations, focusing on positive LGBT+* inclusion and visibility. The Rainbow Flag Award encourages a whole organisation approach to LGBT+ inclusion through a process of action and reflection.
Getting LGBT+ inclusion right is really important, to gain this award we will be going through a process of reflection, looking at the needs of our pupils, our staff, and the wider communities, whilst taking actions specific to our school.
We hope through the work undertaken in achieving this award our school will be recognised as an LGBT+ inclusive school. This not only helps us tackle LGBT phobia, but through positive education, we aim to inspire and support our pupils to improve the understanding they have of themselves, of the LGBT+ community giving a firm commitment to equality and diversity.
*lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, plus other related identities.
There are 6 modules we are working our way through as a school to gain our full Rainbow Flag status. As we achieve each module the award flag will be added below:
