Dosbarth Glas

Welcome to Dosbarth Glas!

Dosbarth Glas is taught by Miss Rogers and Mrs Cole. As a class, we have decided on some key values that we would like to have in our class to make sure our class is always happy. These are: to be respectful towards our school and each other, to ensure we are always kind and caring to each other, be ready to learn and work hard and to take pride in our presentation.

Reading days within our class are dependent on which group your child is in.  If your child has finished reading their book, they will have their book changed that day.

  • Monday – Pandas
  • Tuesday – Lions
  • Wednesday – Tigers
  • Thursday – Chimpanzees
  • Friday - Leopards

Apps we use in Dosbarth Glas:

  • We use SeeSaw daily in class to celebrate and share children’s work. Children independently photograph and upload images and videos of their work, particularly their OWLs, in the afternoon to share with parents. SeeSaw is also used to communicate the children’s reading progress weekly and parents are able to ask any questions they may have through the messenger aspect of SeeSaw.
  • PurpleMash can also be accessed at home and provides children with a number of games, reading opportunities and quizzes to practise what they have learnt in class.
  • Schoop is currently our whole school messaging service. The app can be downloaded to android and apple allowing you to subscribe to our school channel (11150) Schoop is used to share our weekly newsletters and any important class notices or events.

Our PE day is every other Wednesday. Children need to come to school dressed in P. E kits and trainers on this day.

Our Forest School day is every other Friday. Please ensure children have wellies and suitable clothing in school on this day.

Things to Note:

  • It is very important that all items of clothing children come to school with are clearly labelled with the child’s name.
  • Children require a labelled water bottle each day and a healthy snack for breaktime in a labelled pot.  We are a healthy school, please only send healthy snacks and plain water.

Our topic for the Autumn Term is ‘Farm to Fork'.

The purpose of this topic is to identify the different types of food we eat, where this food comes from and the impact it can have on us and our well-being. The children will take part in an immersive dazzle day to engage them in their topic. They will take part in activities such as creating their own advert to promote a meal, making a pic collage using different fruits and vegetables and designing their own balanced meal.

Our community event will take place at the end of the Autumn Term. The children will be sharing what they have learnt about the topic through designing their own meal where they will also share an advert to promote their meal.

More details about the topic and the planned learning for the term can be found in the curriculum leaflet below.
